hasta la victoria siempre

i believe humans like our sense of ownership and identity, we like to believe that we are the most important of Gods creations, that to a point, its true. For example, nike id, puma's mongolian barbecue, and for the people that do not know what those are is a way to personalize everything that you wear, from your shoes to the headband you wear. So as part of my identity finding time i was thinking that if one piece of clothing could say a little bit about me what would it be?, if 50 years after i die they were to display a piece of clothing that was worn by Saul Santos what would it be and what would it represent. So as part of my awesome, relaxing, party less weekend i decided to make a piece of clothing that would say a little bit about me. Number one, it had to be a long sleeve because winter season, number two, it had to be a neutral color, because i am still trying to find myself, so i chose gray, and then i was only allowed to use the resources i could find in my room, just like a cd i made for a good friend, anyhow so i found some thread, and to my luck i had green, yellow and red, my rastafarian colors, i don't really know the deeper philosophies of my rastafarian brothers but i really identify myself with the energy they send, (could be the pot they smoke ha ha) and then i found my permanent markers so i decided to draw the symbol of standing for something, a red star, that is what a red star reminds ME of, standing for something just like the way che wore it, hasta la victoria siempre, so it is my way of to victory always!! so 50 years after my death when people see this piece of clothing displayed the label will say, worn by saul santos in his early 20, during a time of soul searching and a time where he was developing his ideals, the green, yellow and read colors combined with the red star represent To victory always in a peaceful brotherly way.

Mi Galeria

as most people know i am constantly changing one thing or another in my life, for example hair length, color, or some extra pounds and then working my ass off to lose them. this time i decided to change the one and only place that i can call my own and that is my room. I decided that if this was going to be my place of dwelling it needed to be sweet and it needed to have something different. So as a good mexican and following the example of my lovely mother (she put together a whole house furnished in just 3 days from DI) i went to thrift stores and found an old shelf, and i bought it for 5 dollars, and instead of setting it up horizontally i set it up vertically at the foot of my bed facing the closet and i decided to create my very own galleria slash boutique, and i loved what came out, also i bought for 6 dollars a surf board shape piece of wood that i am going to make into a bench and as of now is the display of my lover (my bicycle). Anyhow that is what i changed this weekend and of course it needs work and it will be great once is finished.

reign over me

So back when i was in 9th grade i use to do movie reviews for the college newspaper at the school my sister attended, she is a print journalist and i look back and see how much she believed in my talents, haha, my sister, anyhow she was one of the editors and she would let me write once a week just about movies i watched and new local bands i discovered, those where good times, did i ever said i was a judge at the battle of the bands at byu for 2 years? anyway, i saw a movie i enjoyed, reign over me is the story of a man who loses his family during the 9/11 terrorist attacks, wife and 3 daughters, and his life had no sense after that. His college roomate sees him and together they embark on a mission to find his life again. I must say that Adam Sandler was, to me, exceptional and so was Don Cheadle and i must say that Will Smith is one lucky guy with that woman of his, Jada Smith. The movie really switches emotions which makes it enjoyable and the soundtrack is great. I need to do more of this so I can kick ass like i did back in 9th grade, man it was all about the passion back then, and so it must be now. ohh yeah conclusion: i liked the movie and i recommended. Also check on itunes the pretenders and their song stop your sobbing and of course the who with their love reign over me song.

Marisqueria Dios Proveera

good sunday, went to church came home and cooked breakfast with benny and then a great nap. Then cleaned the room, cleaned the bike and then, of course got online, but today I found a great new hobby, one that makes me poorer than i am but makes me smile a little more. It is called kiva.org and it is a way for people to loan money to businesses in developing countries, not corporations or anything like that but people that need a little push. so today i made my first loan that will be payed back when the business gets going, and after some reading and browsing i decided to put it to use with Nelly Rivera from Guayaquil Ecuador, and she sells fish, and what sold me was the name of her business "Marisqueria Dios Proveera", which for my not spanish speaking friends means "God will Provide", so i was sold and i am looking forward to see her succeed. Something cool about this Kiva.org deal is once people pay you back you can put it right back to work with someone else. What a good sunday.
